Arrival of the Vaux Bridge sections by tug and barge on the River Wear in Sunderland

Logistics and supply chain management play a critical role in engineering projects, ensuring that components arrive on schedule, whether by land or sea—a process that often spans several months.

For a project planned over a two-year period, the vision only truly takes shape once these units reach the site.

Recently, our Casper team demonstrated their expertise in site and port agency representation at the Port of Sunderland, where they coordinated berth arrangements and ships agency services for the arrival of bridge sections. These three bridge units arrived by barge in the summer of 2024 as part of the new pedestrian bridge project.

The Casper team oversaw port preparation of the barge’s arrival, coordinating river movements with the assistance of port pilots, managing mooring on both sides of the river, and ensuring the operation adhered to the project’s timeline requirements.
