Heavy Lift arriving at Thames port, Isle of Grain

The Casper Renewables and Special Projects team had the pleasure of working with two heavy lift project vessels, providing port agency services, quayside representation, and coordination of discharge operations at Thames Port Terminal, Isle of Grain.

As the port agent, our role required a deep understanding of the vessels, local terminal expertise, knowledge of cargo loading and discharging operations, and effective coordination and time management. We also navigated regulatory requirements and maintained communication with all stakeholders involved in daily vessel operations.

The cargo comprised 90 units, weighing between 2 and 87 metric tons, including superheaters for a steam boiler and other boiler components. Each vessel docked for 2-3 days, during which we coordinated extended stevedoring hours to ensure a swift turnaround.

One of our project team members was present either onboard or quayside throughout the discharge process. Additionally, key services provided were coordinating the arrival and departure of the vessels along with the tides, booking pilots, towage, and linesmen, facilitating cutting and grinding of sea fastenings and maintaining close communication between the terminal, vessel owners, and the crew.

Our team is dedicated to minimizing delays and maximizing productivity, ensuring that cargo keeps moving efficiently.
